Abigail Christine has arrived!

Hello All,
Abigail Christine arrived on Monday evening at 5:55. She was 19 inches long and 7 pounds 3 ounces. She gave us a bit of a scare, though! Somehow the sneaky little girl had gotten her hand down over her head and had pulled the umbilical cord with it. It was getting compressed when Melissa was having contractions, so they decided to do an emergency C-section. It was very scary for Andy and Melissa (and for all of those who were at the hospital waiting) things happened very fast! But it all ended well! Abigail is a perfect little darling! We couldn't ask for anything more! Pictures to come soon...we promise!

The end is near...

Hello all,
Went to the doctor again yesterday. Melissa is about 2 cm dialated. She is feeling some contractions and has been for about week, but nothing is going on just yet! Melissa is very uncomfortable and actually has taken this week off of work. On Monday, she could barely walk. The doctor said she will also induce Melissa on Monday if Abbie hasn't made her appearance yet. So, we'll see! Andy is happy to know there is an end in sight! This waiting game is crazy!!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and words!!

Getting closer...

Hello All,
The doctor said Melissa is 1 cm dialated and probably will not make it to her due date. Andy and Melissa have mixed feelings about that!! :-) Melissa is ready to be done though and meet the little girl! Melissa is having trouble sleeping, walking, and doing just about anything! Haha! But all is well in the Rohrbeck household for now! We will keep you posted!

Doctor Appointment

Hello All,
We went to the doctor yesterday. Heard the heartbeat again...it's at 136, nice and strong. Doctor said Melissa is not dialated at all yet, but baby Abbie is head down and ready to go! She said when she felt Abbie's head that she didn't move out of the birth canal, so hopefully she will drop in the next couple weeks! Melissa and Andy FINALLY have everything put away in the baby room! The baby bag for the hospital is packed and in the car at all times...just in case! Andy is very excited about becoming a father. Melissa is also very excited, but tired!! :-)
Update again soon...

6 weeks and counting!

Hello All,
Who can believe that there's only 6 weeks left to the due date?! Not us, that's for sure! Saw the doctor today and she said all is well. Baby is head down...causing much back pain to mom for sure! Melissa's ribs are also very sore, but it's a good kind of sore we suppose. :-) We asked about how big she's going to be and the doctor said Melissa is measuring average, so she will probably be 7 or 7 and a half pounds. The baby bag is packed and ready to go. Now onto cleaning and organizing the baby room!! :-)

Talk soon!

10 Weeks to Go

Hello All,
Andy and Melissa survived the return to work! Melissa was tired and very sore...not used to using all those muscles! She also learned that sitting on the floor is not a good idea since 5 year olds are not strong enough to help you up! :-)

10 more weeks until the due date! We are busy getting our "hospital" bag ready and reading up on the things we learned in child birth class. There's a lot to think about!

We went to the doctor last week and the doctor said she still has a very strong heartbeat. Melissa says she has very strong feet and arms and any other body part that decides to jut out of her at anytime. :-) Melissa took her blood sugar screening and failed, so she had to go in after fasting and then get poked 5 times for blood and 5 urine samples in 3 hours. Not fun! Her arms are still a bit bruised! Haven't gotten the results yet, so hopefully no news is good news. Will be calling Tuesday morning!

Hope you all have a nice Labor Day!

Andy and Melissa

A long time coming...

Hello All,
Sorry it's been so long since our last update! We have been busy. Melissa and Andy have been back at school a few times in the last few weeks getting some things ready for this coming school year. This week, we had to report back to school without kids. Tomorrow night we have Back To School Night in order to meet our new students and have them drop off their school supplies. Kids start next Tuesday! We have no idea where the summer has gone!! Andy has been busy coaching tennis and are doing fairly well in their matches. In other matters, we have our last birthing class tomorrow. We have learned lots of things...many of which were way too visual for Andy! haha!! :-) Other than that, Melissa is doing well. She is tired and starting to get the "pregnancy waddle." Being back at work this week has been tiring since most days of the summer Melissa didn't do too much!! :-) She spent lots of time with the heating pad on her back yesterday after work! Very sore back muscles!! We hope that all is well with you!

furniture pics

The furniture is in...

Hello All,
The baby furniture is in and all put together. Pics to come soon...have to clean up the floor first! :-) Things are going well. We are glad to have the room as done as we can before school starts again. Melissa is feeling the baby move more and more everyday. Andy thinks it's kind of creepy and he's afraid to touch Melissa's stomach sometimes. We don't want to hurt her! :-) Andy is leaving for Vegas tomorrow with his friends and will be back next Wednesday sometime. He is very excited! We go back to the doctor in a week and also start birthing classes. We also wanted to get them done early since Andy's tennis schedule will be hard to work around. The classes are 2 hours a night for 5 weeks. Our last one will be the last Thursday in August. We hope that all is going well with all of you!!

We promise those pictures within the next day or so!!

Finally Done!

For those of you who don't know, our baby room project has been tough! The self stick decals we thought were going to be easy apparently do not stick to our textured walls, although the company says so! :-) So, after leaving it alone for quite awhile and Melissa researching ideas on how not to waste all the money we had spent, we used wallpaper glue and keep your fingers crossed, the animals are still up! The door in the picture is the closet. I also forgot to take a picture of the fan blades because we decorated those too. Next time!! All is well here, and we hope you are too! We are off to a fun date today...we haven't done that in a long time! We are going mini golfing and to dinner and if Melissa can stay awake, a movie! :-)

Happy Fourth of July - A day late!

Hello All,
We saw the doctor last Thursday. She said all is going well. The ultrasound looked good and everything is growing the way it should be! :-) Friday we went to Summerfest and saw a friend of Melissa's play in a band. It was lots of fun. Then Saturday we went to a friend's wedding in Green Bay. The reception was at Lambeau field. It was very cool! We had a good time and didn't hit too much traffic coming home! We are still working on getting the ultrasound pictures on the blog. Hopefully sometime this week! Hope all is well with you!

It's a....

Jungle in our baby room! Well, it's getting there. Here's a picture of the grass we put up. Animals to come! For those of you who didn't get a message today about the baby, sorry! Our ultrasound today went great! We found out it's a girl. We are working to post ultrasound pictures soon, but it's a long story why it's been so hard! We were very excited to see the baby. She is moving like crazy!! Her heartbeat was 150. Perfect! :-) Other than that, not too much is new! we will keep you updated!

Baby room progress

Hello All,
Although it is only the second day of summer vacation Andy and Melissa (and Sue and Jerry) have been busy! We have the entire room cleaned out and now in our basement. And we will be painting the room a light brown color tomorrow. No, Melissa will not be painting! :-) Melissa wanted it all done early in the summer before it got too hot and/or humid! Our theme is going to be a jungle. Just FYI, we currently have all of the jungle things we need. The bedset we have, we found a long time ago, and we had bought all of the matching things. Yes, it was a bit premature, but Melissa LOVED it and decided that we would need it someday! :-) Melissa is still feeling well. Her tummy is getting bigger and she is hungry most of the day...but to be expected we suppose! Our ultrasound is next week and we are still unsure if we are going to find out or not. We'll keep you posted! We hope all is well!

Video Game Baby??

Hello All,
Last Monday's appointment found everything going well. We heard the heartbeat again and boy is it still moving around. To Andy and Melissa it sounded like Pac-Man when he eats the yellow dots. Everytime it moved it made a "wakah, wakah, wakah" sound. Melissa had blood drawn to do a screening for Down's Syndrome and Spina Bifada. The doctor reassured us that it's just a screening so not to worry even if it comes back positive. We go June 25th for the first ultrasound. Now the question is whether or not to find out what it is. A friend of ours gave us a good suggestion if we haven't decided by then. Ask the doctor to write down the sex and put it in an envelope. Then, if we decide to do it, we can find out on our own. This will be up for discussion I'm sure!! :-)
Melissa has also made the transition to maternity clothes this week...who knew they were so comfy?! :-) She is a bit self-conscious as she feels she in that "in-between" stage where people who don't know, wonder if she's pregnant or gaining weight.

That's all to report for now! Hope all is well!

Andy and Melissa

Back home

Hello All,
Melissa and Andy took a trip to Minnesota over the holiday weekend. We spent time shopping at the Mall of America and also saw the Brewers get their butts kicked in the Metrodome by the Twins! :-( Boo! It was fun, though. We only hit an hours worth of traffic on the way home, today! Melissa is doing well. Her belly is expanding a bit and she finds it uncomfortable to sit in some positions for too long. We go back to the doctor on June 1st. We hope all is well with you and that you had a great Memorial Day weekend!

Feeling better

Hello All,
Just wanted to let you know that Melissa is feeling better. The new antibiotics worked well, and no reactions! She is also getting her energy back so that's nice...she can get a few things done now when she gets home from work instead of crashing!!

We hope that all is well with you!

Heartbeat and some other stuff

Well, for those of you who don't know, Melissa was very sick last week. She hasn't been at school since Wednesday. We thought it was the flu, since the fever was almost 102, but turns out that it was a horrible sinus infection. :-( She went on antibiotics on Friday, but on Monday woke up with a terrible rash! So, it was a good thing that we had an OB appointment tonight. The doctor told her to stay home until Wednesday since the rash is EVERYWHERE!!

On a positive note, Melissa got new antibiotics tonight. Pray for no reactions!!!

We also heard the baby's heartbeat. It was 168 which the doctor says is perfect! We go back in four weeks for some blood work and to schedule our ultrasound. :-) We are very excited...it was an overwhelming experience to hear it! Melissa almost cried! Andy had a big smile on his face!! There really is a baby in there! We also heard it move at least 3 times...the doctor says it's active! So, I suppose that's good...better calm down before it comes out...haha!!

We love you all! Take care!

Andy and Melisa

10 weeks and counting

Hello!
Monday will be the start of Melissa's tenth week of pregnancy. The baby is about an inch and a quarter long and weighs .18 of an ounce. Weird to think that something so small can make someone feel SO tired and icky 90% of the time!! Melissa is mostly tired, though some mornings are a little rough. She won't complain though...most people have it MUCH worse! She is very happy for a husband who is understanding and helps out when he realizes she just can't get up off the couch to put that dish in the kitchen. :-)
Melissa is also experiencing VERY vivid and frightening dreams which makes it hard to sleep through the night peacefully! Andy, however, doesn't seem to notice...haha! Melissa will make sure that changes when the baby comes!! :-)
We hope that all is well with all of you! Take care!
Love,
Andy and Melissa

another week has gone by...

Hello All,
This week started out a bit rough for Melissa. She was VERY tired and VERY nauseated Monday and Tuesday, but Wednesday brought welcome relief! She was happy she didn't throw up, though!! :-) Andy has been busy being a helpful husband. He wishes though, he knew how to cook things other than spaghetti and pizza! We are very excited to be on spring break this coming week! A good time to rest and relax!
Happy Easter to all!

Andy and Melissa

By the way

The due date is November 16th for those who are wondering!

We are having a baby...

We are having a baby! We are six and a half weeks along. Melissa found out the morning of the benefit for our friend Chris. We didn't tell anyone until it was official from the doctor on Monday the 16th, but then the floodgates opened! :-) We had our first appointment on Monday, March 23rd. We were asked a ton of questions and Melissa had to give 5 vials of blood. We go back on Monday, May 4th to hear the heartbeat. Right now, Melissa is very tired, but not sick, knock on wood. Andy is busy reading about pregnancy...did you know the fetus gets a tail and comes out with a conehead? ;-)
Come back soon!
